Import location
Upload a KML/KMZ file (e.g. exported from Google Earth or GIS software) or a plain coordinate list (CSV/TXT) to plot a site boundary automatically instead of clicking points by hand. Importing replaces any area, obstacles, or PV layout already on the map.
Supported: .kml / .kmz (uses the first/largest Polygon found), .geojson / .json (Polygon or MultiPolygon geometry, read in GeoJSON's own lon,lat coordinate order), .csv / .txt (one coordinate pair per line, decimal degrees or DMS like 51°30'01"N — order set above, auto-corrected if the file turns out to be the other way round). All coordinates are assumed WGS84 decimal degrees, the standard used by GPS and virtually all mapping software.
Selected area
Click "Draw Area", then click points on the map to trace a shape. Drag a point to move it, or hover/click a point on the map to type its exact coordinates.
| Point | Latitude | Longitude |
|---|
Area/perimeter are geodesic (great-circle) estimates for site-planning — not a legal/cadastral survey measurement.
Roads, buildings & restricted areas
Trace roads, buildings, or no-go zones inside the selected area. When the layout is populated, any PV module that would overlap one of these is left out. Every point can be dragged, or hovered/clicked to type its exact coordinates — same as the main area shape.
| Type | Details | Points |
|---|
No obstacles traced yet. Roads: set a width, click "Add Road", click points along its centreline, then "Finish Shape". Buildings: set a height/shape, click "Add Building" — a rectangle or circle completes after 2 clicks, a freeform outline needs "Finish Shape". Restricted areas: click "Add Restricted Area", trace its outline, then "Finish Shape".
PV module layout
Fill the drawn area with PV modules — set module size, mounting type, tilt, and row spacing, then populate.

Location risk screening
Pointers to authoritative, open hazard/risk resources for this location — not a computed risk score for the exact site. Always confirm with a local specialist survey (geotechnical, flood, and security) for anything safety- or investment-critical.

This tool aggregates public, open data sources — it doesn't host or modify the underlying datasets. Always check the source directly for anything time-critical or safety-critical.
Some network operators block their tools from being embedded in other pages — if the panel above looks blank, use "Open directly" or the web search button instead.

Monthly averages (climatology) of Global Horizontal Irradiance from NASA POWER — free, open-access satellite/reanalysis data, no API key required.
Base map & relief shading from OpenTopoMap (SRTM + OpenStreetMap) — free, open, no API key. Elevation lines drawn for the exact selected area are computed from Open Topo Data (SRTM 30 m dataset, free public API, no key) using a client-side contouring pass — detail is limited by SRTM's ~30 m resolution, so very small or gently sloping sites may show few or no lines. If you edit the shape, click "Refresh Elevation Contours" to recompute (kept manual to respect the data provider's request rate limits).
